Upton Country Park

Upton Country Park has over 100 acres of award-winning gardens, woodland and shoreline. It is also home to Upton House, a Grade II listed Georgian mansion.
I was commissioned to develop visitor boards which included a clear, concise map for the public. I was then asked to redesign their events brochure and signage and ident for their beautiful walled garden.
I designed a clear, effective map and interpretation boards that are intuitive and allow the public to orientate themselves with ease. I worked very closely with the staff at Upton Country Park making sure the views of all stakeholders were made clear and acted upon accordingly. The result is a simple map that illustrates what would otherwise be an overwhelming amount of useful information.
I also redesigned their events brochure to reflect more accurately where they want their brand to go. Again, adopting a simple layout, we managed to communicate a wealth of activities in a way that was entertaining and easy to digest.
Finally I was asked to replace the signage within their walled garden. The previous signs were little more than laminated sheets of A4 with standard no cycling and no ball games icons. The challenge was to create something that not only communicated what people were asked not to do, but also conveyed a subtle message that would put the public in the mindset of actively wanting to look after such a precious garden. To achieve this we created an iconic image that encouraged people to love the walled garden. This was then applied to larger, more informative boards that sit outside the garden.
